Laptop computers are always near the top of the “Most Stolen Items” list in America. They are stolen from parked vehicles, airports, offices and libraries. To best protect your investment, the Department of Public Safety offers these crime prevention tips:
- Don’t leave laptops unattended, even for short periods.
- Purchase a portable locking device that will enable you to secure your computer to a fixed object like desks, tables, etc.
- Purchase electronic tracking software for your laptop. This will assist law enforcement in locating your computer if it is missing or stolen.
- Take advantage of the Public Safety Valuables Identification Program VIP – to mark your laptop, special engraving tools are available in the Public safety office.
