Bob Saget Visits Canisius
By Paula Hopeck
Life & Arts Editor
During a visit to Canisius on Sunday, August 27, Bob Saget entertained a full Montante Cultural Center with his R-rated humor. Yes, the same Bob Saget who played Danny Tanner, the uptight father on Full House, has a raunchy sense of humor. After ridiculing 16-year-old girls, fellow Full House cast members, television station interns, a few audience members and other numerous topics, Saget ended his routine with some music, a song called, “Danny Tanner Is Not Gay,” which was to the tune of the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want it That Way.”
Prior to the show, The Griffin sat down with Saget for an interview to discuss doing stand-up for a college audience, being on Full House, his family, his next projects, overcoming the Danny Tanner image and his familiarity with Buffalo.

The New C-Block
By Abbey Woodcock
Managing Editor
It was a previously non-existent scene at the Koessler Athletic Center. Students flocked to the C-Block student section and remained on their feet, cheering on the Golden Griffins with fervor strong enough to force the referees to ask the students to calm down.
Decked out in gold and blue, the entire section was sporting Canisius apparel. Those that came into the KAC without Griffin gear were given a free t-shirt.
At halftime nearly the entire section moved to the opposite end of the court and a McMaster assistant coach commented on the intimidation of the sea of blue and gold behind the opponents basket.

Dashboard Confessional plays to sold-out crowd
By Andrea Kibler
Copy Editor
“Let me tell a story. Do you guys mind if I tell you a story? It doesn’t matter, I’ll tell it anyway.” I’m not sure how many times the restless audience began to groan at those words at this year’s Dashboard Confessional concert at the Koessler Athletic Center. However, fans got their money’s worth, as Dashboard was on stage for nearly two and a half hours.
Californian singer/songwriter Matt Costa opened the show and performed a 30-minute set. Costa’s style had a different feel than Dashboard Confessional. Although his music is also laid-back, it was more folk rock instead of emo rock.

Take Pride in Our City
Buffalo may not be the most glamorous city but the autumn-leaf paved streets and opalescent snowdrifts compose the setting for a place where life may be experienced in the rawest sense. Hardworking people wait at bus stops as high schoolers glide around in their parents’ two-door. This is not a city like Los Angeles, NYC, Nashville, Miami or Las Vegas; it’s unlikely to find people in Buffalo who arrived with hopes of being discovered or catching their big break. The race of Buffalonians is a population borne by parents who diligently fought tooth and nail to climb the ragged rungs of societal hierarchy. We are raised by a village of proud people who have dreams of success that hardly cross the minds of a lot of lucky people.
